HPLC MS Method for Analysis of Trimellitic anhydride on Chromni Column

HPLC Method for Trimellitic anhydride on Chromni by SIELC Technologies

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Trimellitic anhydride

Trimellitic anhydride is a trifunctional, highly reactive aromatic anhydride with the chemical formula C9H4O5. It is used as a curing agent for epoxy and other resins; in vinyl plasticizers, paints, coatings, dyes, pigments and a wide variety of other manufactured products. It is a common precursor to plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). In acidic water, Trimellitic Anhydride will ‘open up’ back into Trimellitic Acid. You can find detailed UV spectra of Trimellitic anhydride and information about its various lambda maxima by visiting the following link.

Trimellitic anhydride is analyzed using a Chromni stationary phase column under gradient conditions with a mobile phase composed of acetonitrile (MeCN) and water. Detection is performed by UV absorbance detection.

ColumnChromni, 2.1 x 150 mm, 3 µm, 100 A, surface coated
Mobile PhaseMeCN – 99.5%
BufferFormic Acid – 0.5%
Flow Rate0.2 mL/min
DetectionUV 263 nm,  ESI-SIM: [M-H]1- 191
Limit of Detection*263 nm – 7 ppb, LC MS – 50 ppb
*LOD was determined for this combination of instrument, method, and analyte, and it can vary from one laboratory to another even when the same general type of analysis is being performed.
