HPLC Method for Determination of Azithromycin on Primesep 200 Column

HPLC Method for Azithromycin on Primesep 200 by SIELC Technologies

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Azithromycin.

Azithromycin is an antibiotic with the chemical formula C38H72N2O12. It is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections including but not limited to pneumonia, strep throat, and STI.  As a medication, it is available in a variety of forms: tablets, capsules, injections, and solutions. It is on the WHOs list of essential medicines and is classified as critically important.

In reversed-phase HPLC, it generally exhibits significant tailing.  The tailing can be substantially reduced by using a mixed-mode Primesep 200 column with a simple MS-compatible mobile phase of water, acetonitrile (ACN) and ammonium formate (AmFm) buffer.

Condition

Column Primesep 200, 2.1 x 50 mm, 5 µm, 100 A, dual ended
Mobile Phase MeCN – 75%
