HPLC Method for Meldonium on Primesep 100 by SIELC Technologies
High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Meldonium.
Meldonium is a medication with the chemical formula C6H14N2O2. It is a popular treatment for ischemia in Eastern Europe. Due to it’s metabolic modulating effects as well as it altering enzymatic reaction in the body it is considered to be a performance-enhancing drug, therefore, it has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency since 2016. It works as a fatty acid oxydation inhibitor by inhibiting enzymes in the carnitine biosynthesis pathways.
Meldonium can be retained and analyzed using the Primesep 100 stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes an isocratic method with a simple mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile (MeCN) with a perchloric acid buffer. Detection is performed using UV.
