High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Luminol.

Luminol is a compound with the chemical formula C8H7N3O2. It is primarily known for exhibiting chemiluminescence, glowing blue when mixed with an oxidizing agent. It has been used in criminal investigation since the 1930s due to it’s luminescence being enhanced when mixed with blood. Due to the small amount of iron needed as a catalyst, it shows traces of blood even when blood has been cleaned or removed. Luminol can be retained and analyzed using the Primesep 100 stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes an isocratic method with a simple mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile (MeCN) and water. Detection is performed using UV.
