HPLC Separation of Enalapril and Lisinopril on Newcrom AH Column
June 3, 2021
Separation type: Liquid Chromatography Mixed-mode
High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Method for Analysis of Enalapril and Lisinopril
Enalapril and lisinopril are medications that work on the kidneys to help lower blood pressure. Lisinopril can be used for heart failure and for people who’ve had a heart attack. Enalapril can also be used for heart failure but not heart attacks. By using a Newcrom AH mixed-mode column with a cation-exchange mechanism, enalapril and lisinopril, can be baseline separated in a short time using an isocratic method with a simple mobile phase of water, acetonitrile (MeCN, ACN) and a sulfuric acid (H2SO4) buffer. UV detection at 210 nm.

Application Column
Newcrom AH
The Newcrom columns are a family of reverse-phase-based columns. Newcrom A, AH, B, and BH are all mixed-mode columns with either positive or negative ion-pairing groups attached to either short (25 Å) or long (100 Å) ligand chains. Newcrom R1 is a special reverse-phase column with low silanol activity.

Separation of Enalapril on Newcrom R1 HPLC column
February 16, 2018
Enalapril is a drug used to treat high blood pressure, diabetic kidney disease, and heart failure. It works by inhibiting angiotensin II, a blood pressure raiser. Enalapril can be analyzed by this reverse phase (RP) HPLC method with simple conditions. The mobile phase contains acetonitrile (MeCN), water, and phosphoric acid. For Mass-Spec (MS) compatible applications the phosphoric acid needs to be replaced with formic acid. Smaller 3 µm particle columns are available for fast UPLC applications. This liquid chromatography method is scalable and can be used for isolation of impurities in preparative separation. It also suitable for pharmacokinetics.
